'Go ENG Girl' event at research park

Do you have a daughter or granddaughter who's interested in engineering?

It's hoped a special event, being held at the Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park Saturday, will encourage girls to consider pursuing a career in the field.

Executive Director Katherine Albion said girls in Grades 7 to 10 are invited to attend the "Go ENG Girl" event.

"This is the second year the event will be held in Sarnia," said Albion. "It's been held in London for a number of years. It's an amazing event for young girls and we're very excited to be giving girls in Sarnia-Lambton this opportunity to participate as well."

Albion said they have a number of things planned for the event, which gets underway at 9 a.m.

"We have some panel discussions that will teach them and let them learn a little bit more about engineering," said Albion. "They will have some time to do 3D modelling on laptops, 3D water filtration experiments, and then do some 3D printing and 3D scanning demonstrations, as well as see some of our research and commercialization projects at the park."

Space is limited to 60 girls, plus their parent or guardian.

Those interested in participating are asked to register before Friday, by clicking on "Go ENG Girl" at https://events.onwie.ca.
