United Way campaign hoping to pick up speed

The Sarnia-Lambton United Way Campaign is trending behind last year's pace.

Executive Director Dave Brown said he's still optimistic they will reach the halfway point within a couple of weeks.

"Right now we're beginning week five," said Brown. "About 1,680 donors have brought us to 41 per cent or $820,000 of our $2 million campaign goal. The mail campaign has been excellent, we're actually ahead of last year's pace through the mail so we are excited about that and we have 800 follow up letters that are going out."

Brown said the next big fundraiser for the Sarnia-Lambton United Way is the Locally Lambton Dinner at Lambton College on October 27. Tickets are available at the East Street office.

The United Way helps fund 19 local agencies providing 35 programs and services to the community.
