Dream Home tours begin

This year's Bluewater Health Foundation Dream Home opens to the public Saturday.

Valued at just under $600,000, the home is located at 444 Lucas Ave. in the Rapids Parkway area. There was a ribbon cutting ceremony Saturday morning.

Foundation Executive Director Kathy Alexander said lottery proceeds this year go toward the purchase of two new mammography machines at Bluewater Health.

"October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so this campaign for us is really special because it's about raising money, but it's also about raising awareness," she said. "We know that one in nine women are still diagnosed with breast cancer, and we know that mammograms are the first line of defence with early detection and diagnosis, so it's really important to us that we have state-of-the-art equipment for women in our community."

Open houses will be held every Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. until February 24, 2019.

Tickets, on sale now, are $100 and available at the Dream Home, the foundation office, area banks and credit unions and Shoppers Drug Mart stores.

The winning draw will be held at Bluewater Health on March 1, 2019.
