Sarnia wins silver in Communities in Bloom competition

The City of Sarnia received a 5 Blooms - Silver rating in this year's Communities in Bloom competition.

Committee Chair Anne Marie Gillis said the second place finish in the "Classic Champions" large category is really something to be proud of.

"Coquitlam [British Columbia] beat us by one point apparently and we came above Edmonton [Alberta], so considering the size of the community and the resources, I think that's very, very good for us," said Gillis.

Sarnia also received a special mention for Veterans Park and a Scotts Turf Builder Landscape Award for outstanding achievement.

Parks and forestry manager Patti Ross accepted the awards on behalf of the city at the 2018 National/International Symposium and Awards Ceremonies in Strathcona County Alberta.
