A legal challenge of telephone and online voting in Lambton Shores has been dismissed.
A numbered company argued the municipality's bylaw authorizing alternate voting methods in this month's civic election was illegal, and an injunction should be imposed stopping it.
In a four-page decision dated September 28, Justice John Desotti dismisses the application.
Lambton Shores Mayor Bill Weber said the challenge involved advanced voting.
"I think it was because of a couple of words with an advance poll not being included in the ballot because of an alternate voting method," said Weber. "The alternate voting method allowed for October 11 until the 22 to be a voting period. People can vote 24 hours a day during that period which negated the need for an advance poll."
Seven municipalities in Lambton County are moving to telephone and internet voting in the 2018 election.
Others include the city of Sarnia, Point Edward, Petrolia, Oil Springs, Warwick, and Plympton-Wyoming.
The applicant in the Lambton Shores challenge was reportedly considering an appeal.
