Mother and child struck on Exmouth Street

A four-year-old girl and her mother were struck by a vehicle Monday morning while crossing Exmouth Street.

Sarnia police say the incident happened at about 8:30 a.m. when the mother and daughter were crossing at the signalled pedestrian crosswalk near Trillium Park.

A westbound vehicle struck both pedestrians causing significant injuries to the young girl who was transported to London hospital in serious, but stable condition.

The mother was treated for minor injuries at hospital and released.

Police continue to investigate.

Exmouth Street between Melrose Avenue and Copland Street was closed through the morning, and into the afternoon.
