United Way campaign takes off

The Sarnia-Lambton 2018 United Way campaign is hoping to keep up the momentum in the weeks ahead.

Executive Director Dave Brown said in the first two weeks of the campaign, they've raised $661,000 or 33 per cent of the $2 million goal.

Brown said he's encouraged with how the campaign got rolling this year.

"The direct mail continues to be strong by retirees, professionals and at home businesses," said Brown. "We also received interim figures from the Imperial campaign of over $200,000 so far."

Brown said the "Give at the Till" campaign at the LCBO is running until October 7, and other fundraising efforts, including one with the Canada Border Services Agency, kick off this week.

The United Way supports 19 local agencies providing 35 community programs and services.
