'Boys in blue' have a blast at school (GALLERY)

Sarnia police officers were blasted with blue chalk Friday afternoon.

Students and teachers at Alexander Mackenzie Secondary School hosted a "colour blast" and invited constables John Sottosanti and Nelson Amaral to join in on the fun.

Constable Sottosanti said it was an opportunity for the students to get to know each other, and meet a few officers in a relaxed setting.

"It makes us realize that hey, police are human, kids are human, we're all the same, we have a job to do, and aside from our job, we like having fun and we like being with people," he said. "It was great. The kids were amazing, and I can honestly say this was one of the best times I've had. At first, I was a little weary about getting all chalked-up, but it worked out perfectly."

Sottosanti said it was the first time the school has held an event like this one, and he hopes they'll do it again with even more chalk.
