A local charity that helps youth enter the workforce got a big donation Thursday night.
Sarnia-Lambton Rebound received $26,910 from the 2018 Libro Prosperity Fund.
Rebound Executive Director Carrie McEachran said the money will be used to benefit the roughly 500 local youth they serve every month at The Hub.
"That money is going towards youth leadership programs, specifically around equipping youth with the knowledge and support that they'll need to enter the workforce," said McEachran. "So working on some skill development, providing leadership opportunities for vulnerable youth, and helping them secure employment."
The cheque presentation was made at The Hub, located within St. Luke's United Church.
"At one point we were looking at it, and you know the youth at The Hub have kind of made that their home," said McEachran. "They really don't want to leave that location and St. Luke's and our community partners have been really supportive of that."
Rebound has been helping those aged 16-24 in Sarnia-Lambton since 1984.
