The Village of Point Edward has announced the second recipient of the Maynard and Rene Walker Family Scholarship.
Nolan Gladwish, a graduate of Bridgeview Public School and Northern Collegiate & Vocational Institute, receives $5,000 U.S. each year for the first two years of his post-secondary education.
Gladwish, who has volunteered at numerous organizations, including Bridgeview School, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and Interact, plans to study business at King's College at the University of Western Ontario in September.
Mary Ellen Walker established the scholarship in 2017 to honour her parents.
Maynard Walker lived in Point Edward his entire life and had a 35-year career on the volunteer fire department, including serving as chief from 1956 to 1979.
Rene married Maynard and moved to the village in 1949, and was very active in the Point Edward Presbyterian Church.

Two other Northern Collegiate students have received the prestigious Stefanko Award for 2018.
