Canada Day Road Closures

Sarnia police are reminding motorists about road closures this Canada Day long weekend.

A number of thoroughfares will be closed around Canatara and Centennial parks for the annual celebrations on Sunday.

Constable Nelson Amaral says road closed means exactly that.

"At 9am Lakeshore Rd. between Colborne and Indian Rd. will be closed for parade float assembly," says Nelson. "By 10:30am all entrances to Canatara Park will be closed to the public. No motor vehicle traffic allowed into the park after 10:30am except for emergency services and Sarnia Transit."

The annual parade begins at 11:30am down Lakeshore Rd. to Colborne Rd. Cathcart Blvd between Christina St. N and Colborne Rd. will be closed during that time.

Constable Nelson says at 3pm, all entrances to Canatara Park will reopen.

Front St. between Exmouth St. and London Rd. will be closed with no side street access to allow safe pedestrian access to Centennial Park from 3pm until midnight.

Disobeying a road closed sign can result in a $110 fine and two demerit points.
