Surf Inn Turf Fundraiser

The best seafood and best tenderloin in town will be available for one night only during the Inn of the Good Shepherd's Surf Inn Turf fundraiser on Thursday.

The ninth annual event, beginning at 5:30pm at Point Edward's Holiday Inn, will feature live music, a silent auction and a complimentary cocktail.

But Executive Director Myles Vanni says without a doubt, the headliner is the food.

"There's going to be a patio full of appetizers: shrimp and mussels and scallops. Then we'll move into the big banquet hall for the steak, the lobster, baked potato and soup, then a blueberry dessert."

Around 300 people are expected to attend, but it's not too late to pick up your ticket for $99.

Vanni says their goal this year is to raise $30,000 towards an initiative that's had a tremendous impact on the community since it began nearly a decade ago.

"We're probably close to about $200 to $225,000 raised through the dinner and those funds will help a variety of our programs," says Vanni. "We have a lot of our summer programs like Backpacks For Kids, Snack Pack, our Mobile Market, plus just all of our regular programs."

Vanni says the Inn is already looking to do something big to celebrate the event's tenth year in 2019.
