Hundreds Of Used Needles Dumped On Sarnia Sidewalk

Sarnia police are urging caution after hundreds of used needles were found strewn about on a sidewalk on Vidal St. north of Wellington St.

Photos of the discovery have been circulating on social media.

Constable John Sottosanti says police attended the scene after being notified by Blackburn News, but city public works had already cleaned up the mess.

He says it's a potentially dangerous situation.

"If you have a kid, or even someone's pet comes around and starts sniffing and gets stabbed or even worse, someone has some sort of agent on board them that is contagious, you're ruining if not endangering someone's life. So please, be smarter than this. Take into consideration the people around you, no matter what your reason for disposing these needles are, legitimate or not, please be very smart."

Officials also say anyone who's accidentally pricked by a needle should seek immediate medical attention.
