Public Board Appoints Student Trustees

The Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) has approved the election of three students trustees for the 2018-2019 school year, including their first Indigenous student trustee.

Autumn Bressette of LCCVI was elected to that position.

Fellow LCCVI student Alexandra Graham and Rihana Kukkadi of John McGregor Secondary School in Chatham will fill the other spots.

Chair Elizabeth Hudie says it's important to have a diversity of student voices represented on the board.

"We are excited to welcome the LKDSB's first Indigenous Student Trustee, as this position will further support the engagement of Indigenous students in Board governance," says Hudie.

The student trustees were elected by the student senate during a meeting at Wallaceburg District Secondary School on April 23.
