Habs Alumni Take To The Ice For Mental Health

The Montreal Canadiens alumni are in Sarnia Friday, March 2 to help raise awareness for mental health.

Former Habs Patrice Brisebois, Stephane Richer and Marc-Andre Bergeron are among some of the players that will take on a local team to raise money for The Deker Bauer Foundation For Suicide Prevention.

Deker's mother and foundation CEO Teresa Ingles says the game is another reminder of the lasting impact her son has left on the community.

"The foundation is about everybody in our community that struggles with mental health issues and suicidal ideations," she says. "Deker's story is the reason we started this, but it's everyone else's story as to why we're carrying on."

Tickets are still available and the proceeds will go towards paying volunteers at the foundation. Ingles says everyone is welcome to attend the game even if you're not a Habs fan.

Game time is set for Friday at 7pm at the Progressive Auto Sales Area.

Cogeco, Local Electricians IBEW 530, Unifor CEP Local 914, and Spectrum Communications are some of the companies and businesses sponsoring the event.
