Kyrou, Sting Blank Flint 9-0

The Sarnia Sting's Jordan Kyrou dominated against the Flint Firebirds Sunday afternoon.

Kyrou had seven points, including four goals as the Sting beat the Firebirds 9-0 at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

The win was the 42nd of the season, a franchise record for the Sting. The Sting have 88 points in the OHL Western Conference and currently hold the third playoff seed.

Justin Fazio stopped all 22 shots he faced in goal for Sarnia.

Adam Ruzicka scored the only first-period goal, doing so on the power play at 5:38 for his 32nd goal of the season.

Kyrou made it 2-0 Sting at 32 seconds into the middle frame. Cam Dineen added a goal almost three minutes later and Kyrou scored his second goal just past the midway point of the period. Two more scores followed before the intermission, Jonathan Ang's 22nd goal of the year and Kyrou's third goal completing his hat trick. The Sting lead 6-0 after two periods.

The Sting wasn't done scoring in the third period, adding three more goals. Dineen scored again on the power play at 1:25. Kyrou later scored his fourth goal of the game and Michael Pezzetta sealed it for Sarnia.

Garrett Forrest allowed all nine goals in net for the Firebirds, with 25 saves.

The Sting travel to Kitchener Tuesday night to take on the Rangers.
