Pre-Election Fluoride Discussion Set

The city will gather public input on fluoridation of drinking water at a special meeting later this month.

Sarnia City Council passed a motion Monday to hold a public meeting February 26 on the possibility of giving voters the final say on the controversial issue in this fall's municipal election.

It follows a notice of motion brought forward by the mayor to have the question placed on the ballot in October.

Mayor Mike Bradley says fluoride was put in the water back in the 1970s by a public vote and it should be removed the same way if that's what the majority wants.
