Sting Win 30th Game, Double Up Firebirds 6-3

The Sarnia Sting (30-12-2-0) doubled up the Firebirds (12-26-3-1) 6-3 in Flint on Wednesday night for their fifth straight win.

Adam Ruzicka led the way with a hat trick and an assist. Theo Calvas scored a goal and added two helpers. Michael Pezzetta and Drake Rymsha also scored, while Jordan Kyrou dished out three assists.

Sting backup Aidan Hughes made 29 saves for his first win since late October.

Assistant Coach Brad Staubitz says the team is now looking ahead to Friday's home matchup against the first place Sault St. Marie Greyhounds.

"We're excited to get to the weekend here and get into that match," says Staubitz. "That's a big challenge for us, it sets the bar of where we're at and where we need to be at this point in the season and moving into the playoffs."

Sarnia is second in the OHL standings with 62 points. The Greyhounds have 77 points, and haven't lost in regulation in an impressive 29 games.

On Friday, the Sting will be honouring Jordan Kyrou for his gold medal win at the World Jr. Hockey Championship.

The Sault's Boris Katchouk, Taylor Raddysh, and Conor Timmins will also be recognized for the accomplishment.

You can hear Friday's game LIVE on CHOK at 7pm.
