Ausable Bayfield Monitoring Water Levels

Area conservation authorities are watching the weather closely.

The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority has issued a flood outlook water safety message.

The conservation authority says warm temperatures combined with rainfall and snowmelt could result in high flows in area rivers and streams.

It's expected watercourses will begin to rise overnight Thursday night and through the day Friday with any flooding limited to traditional low-lying areas, including some local roads that may be affected by rising waters.

There is a risk of ice jamming in river mouth areas of Port Franks, Bayfield and to a lesser extent Grand Bend.

Residents are reminded that all ice should be considered unsafe and they should stay away from watercourses.
