Preferred Towing Raising Funds For Local Youth

Local stars of the Discovery Channel's Heavy Rescue: 401 are holding a special screening to launch the second season.

Owner of Preferred Towing in Sarnia Tammy Vandenheuvel is inviting the public to a special fundraiser on Tuesday, January 2.

She says the event at the Polish Hall on Exmouth St. will not only include an exclusive screening of Episode 1, but will raise money toward a new safe haven for local youth.

"The ABC Daycare, we're looking at transforming it into transitional housing for youth who experience homelessness," says Vandenheuvel. "Using the space to provide seven apartment units which will house up to ten youth at one time, a drop in space for youth where they can get support, mental health services and get a meal in the same space so it's very easy for youth to access the services."

Sarnia City Council approved a rezoning application for the London Rd. site last month.

Vandenheuvel says they're hoping about 200 people attend the event which includes a silent auction and prize draws.

Tickets for the 7:30pm fundraiser are $20 each and available through Preferred Towing on Indian Rd. South.
