Phase two construction at the new Great Lakes Secondary School on Murphy Rd. is right on schedule.
The school will have a new auditorium, Indigenous community room, updated classrooms and accessibility improvements.
Lambton Kent District School Board Superintendent of Education Gary Girardi says returning students will notice a lot of changes.
"While the flow will be similar, I think they'll be improvements to the design," says Girardi. "That includes things like the cafeteria being opened up, and more areas for students to gather and participate in school activities."
The school board received a $10.3-million capital investment from the Ministry of Education toward the $23.4-million project.
Students will return to the building in September of 2018.
