The Lambton Kent District School Board is thinking about adding an Indigenous Student Trustee position.
Trustee Jane Bryce says the position would be in addition to the two student trustee positions they have now.
She says trustees have welcomed the idea of increasing the student voice at board meetings.
"So they've asked that we start to investigate how we can do that," says Bryce. "Part of the investigation would also be to gather input from from our Indigenous partners to make sure that everybody is included in this decision making."
Bryce says the addition would exhibit a continuous commitment to the Indigenous community, student voice and support provincial and federal recommendations aimed at reconciliation and acknowledgement.
