Deputy Mayor Position To Return In Plympton-Wyoming

Plympton-Wyoming residents will vote for a deputy mayor in the next municipal election.

Mayor Lonny Napper says the town decided to reinstate the position because of new provincial legislation.

"We will now be allowed to send a designate to county council meetings in place of the mayor," says Napper. "In the past, if you weren't able to attend, your voice couldn't be heard. They've opened that up now so you can send a designate."

The position was eliminated following the 2014 municipal election.

The deputy mayor will earn 75% more than the honorarium paid to a councillor who makes $2,825.
