Park Washrooms Finished But Work Continues At Centennial

The washroom facilities at Centennial Park will open Monday from 8am until 8pm daily, but the sidewalk leading to the Suncor Agora building is closed because of what city hall is calling "concrete deficiencies" that did not meet the city's grade specifications. It will be replaced this week at the contractor's expense.

Last week the majority of councillors approved the spending of another $250,000 to finish the job.

The money will come from reserves and will pay for vandalism and fencing and other items not covered in the contract with the administrator, Golder Associates, and the contractor, Bre-X Construction.

City hall has set aside $400,000 to build a municipal boat ramp and parking lot at Sarnia Bay Marina. A staff report to council at its September 11 meeting did not indicate why work on the ramp has stalled, other than saying staff are still awaiting a design and construction schedule from Golder and Bre-X.
