The building pace in Sarnia has surged ahead of last year's in a positive economic sign for the city.
Construction totals until the end of August stood at over $63-million, compared to about $51-million at this time last year.
Some homeowners had deep pockets
12 building permits for new homes were issued in August, six of which were worth $275,000 or more.
That helped pushed the year to date total to 78 homes, 30 fewer than were being built at this time last year.
