Major Road Repairs Begin In Forest

A major reconstruction of King St. E in Forest gets underway Wednesday, September 6.

Lambton Shores Community Services Director Steve McAuley says the $3.1-million project will be done in two stages -- one this fall, the other in the spring.

"They'll take off the top surface and then there's some storm sewer work to be done, some water main work to be done, and a little bit of sanitary sewer work to be done," says McAuley. "Those services will all be replaced in bits and pieces. Prior to the winter season, they'll put down another coat of asphalt."

The municipality's share of the cost is $1.8-million.

McAuley says they hope to have King St. E open to local traffic from Townsend Line to Main St. most of the time so people can access local businesses.
