Mallroad Library Reopening Thursday

Lambton County's Mallroad Library will reopen and resume its programming and services to the public Thursday.

The branch was shut down Tuesday after a vehicle accelerated into the front of the building just as it was opening around 9:30am.

Libraries Manager Darlene Coke says the property owner responded promptly and has managed to have contractors secure the facility.

"The impact of the vehicle hitting the front of the library essentially pushed the brick work and the windows inward into the facility," says Coke. "Work was done to create a temporary wall which makes that front entrance way secure, will allow access to the public and section off the space so that work can continue with a full repair at a later date."

Due dates for resources borrowed from Mallroad have been extended until next Tuesday, August 22.

The main library branch downtown, closed since a basement fire July 13, is set to reopen Monday.
