Grants Available For 'Charge N Go' Stations

Sarnia-Lambton businesses are being encouraged to apply for a $500 grant to install a charge station on site.

As part of the "Charge n' Go" program, Accessibility Coordinator Dale Mosely says the plugs provide free power for mobility devices like wheelchairs and scooters.

"What it would do is basically open the doors for more people coming into their businesses," says Mosely. "The business will be considered a socially responsible one. Sarnia is well-known for being accessible, and being innovative when it comes to accessibility. So, we have that movement already in Sarnia and businesses can take advantage of that and market themselves in unique ways."

Mosely says the cost to businesses is only about 17 to 25 cents per charge.

There are already 13 charging units at locations across the county including City Hall, parks and libraries.

Interested businesses can apply for the grant at www.sarnia.ca or by calling Dale at 519-332-0330 ext. 3307.
