Wyoming Celebrates Canada Day With Splash Pad Opening

It's a big day in Wyoming on Saturday.

The new splash pad in McKay Park will be officially opened with free activities from 11am until 4pm in combination with Canada Day festivities.

MP Peter Fragiskatos will snip the ribbon at 1pm on behalf of the minister of innovation, science and economic development.

The $183,000 project received over $59,000 from the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program. The remainder of the cost was picked up by Plympton-Wyoming, the Sarnia and Wyoming Community Foundations and the Wyoming Lions Club.

Administrative Assistant Rebecca Vanderberk invites everyone to come out to the celebration.

"It will be a family fun filled event," says Vanderberk. "There will be bouncy castles, face painting, a car show, musical entertainment from two bands, police versus the kids road hockey games, as well as free hot dogs and burgers."

Five hundred Maple tree saplings will be handed out to celebrate Canada's 150th birthday.
