Men Charged With Possessing Break-In Tools

Sarnia police have made arrests as they try to crack down on a rash of thefts from the city's industrial areas.

An officer conducting surveillance last Thursday evening spotted two individuals known to police in a familiar vehicle in the area of Plank Rd. and McGregor Side Rd.

Police say the driver was arrested in connection with a curfew violation and the passenger was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

It's alleged a search of a backpack and a gym bag in the car revealed neoprene face shields, cordless saws and angle grinders, cutting disks, tarps, crowbars and work gloves.

Brian Clifford Rice, 27, and Douglas William Lemay, 45, both of Sarnia, face charges of possession of break and enter tools and breach of probation.

Police say this year many of the city's industrialized areas have been targeted for the theft of precious metals including copper, aluminum and stainless steel.
