Young Children Found In Home Raided For Drugs

The Children's Aid Society is looking into the well-being of two children under the age of 5, and a Sarnia woman is in custody following a drug bust at a residence in Sarnia.

Around 9:30pm on Tuesday, members of the Sarnia Police Vice Unit and uniform patrol officers, investigating a case involving drugs being sold out of a home, conducted a search warrant in the 900-block of Confederation St.

Upon entry officers located a number of people in the residence along with a suspect from the investigation and two young children, who police say belong to the suspect.

During the search officers located methamphetamine, hydromorphone and magic mushrooms with an approximate street value of $900, as well as $900 in cash.

The suspect, a 32-year-old woman, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

Police say she was being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The children were taken by a family member while the CAS assesses the situation.
