Environment Canada posted a rare February severe thunderstorm warning for Sarnia-Lambton late Friday afternoon.
A storm, capable of producing very strong wind gusts to 90 km/h moved from west of Detroit, northeastward at a rapid clip of 100 km/h.
Nickel size hail was also a threat in the storm, that impacted Sarnia by 4:30pm and was continuing to track northeastward.
The warning for Sarnia-Lambton ended before 5:30pm, but a severe thunderstorm watch was issued a hour later. The watch remained in effect until just before midnight.
