Pedestrian And Cyclist Visibility Encouraged

Sarnia police are concerned that many cyclists and pedestrians in the city are virtually invisible to drivers in the dark.

Constable Nelson Amaral says the Lambton Safe Roads Committee and Sarnia Transit will be distributing retro-reflective winter toques and arm bands to bus riders later on Thursday.

Amaral says wearing dark clothing while riding a bike or walking on the road in the dark makes you invisible to drivers. He says retro-reflective materials are up to 1,500 times brighter than white.

The retro-reflective gear will be handed out between 4:30pm and 6:30pm to Sarnia Transit riders on routes 1, 4, 9 and 14.
