Lambton College has come a long way in 50 years.
The college marked its anniversary this week and has received more accolades.
The school was honoured with a pair of global awards at the recent World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics (WFCP) International Awards of Excellence in Brazil.
College President and CEO Judith Morris says they won a silver medal in applied research, and a bronze in entrepreneurship for their work in Zambia with the One Seed Project.
She says the recognition helps boost the college's international profile.
"When others understand we have achieved world recognition, international recognition, certainly from the countries I referenced earlier, that gives us credibility and in their eyes that is really important," says Morris.
Lambton became just the second college in the Ontario college system when its doors first opened November 15, 1966.
At that time, it ran four programs, with a total of 54 students.
