Habitat Breaks Ground In Watford

A ground breaking ceremony in Watford Wednesday morning marked the beginning of construction of Habitat's 40th and 41st home-builds in Sarnia-Lambton.

Executive Director Sarah Reaume says this is the first of its kind pilot project with modular home builder Royal Homes. She says it's hoped the keys to the Scenic Dr. homes will be handed over to two families in July 2017.

"We have two Watford families, we have a young mom and dad who have a wee baby and we have a single mom, she's a widow, with her two children moving into the homes," says Reaume. "We are so excited to be able to provide affordable home ownership options for these families as well."

Reaume says the builds are part of the 34th annual Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter work project.

Every year, the former US President and his wife choose a country to help with housing builds.
