UPDATE: Source Of Plank Rd. Gas Alert A Mystery

It appears the source of a gas odour Sunday afternoon that prompted roadblocks in the Plank Rd. area will remain a mystery.

The Ontario Environment Ministry followed up on Sunday's incident Monday. Spokesman Gary Wheeler confirmed a gas alarm sounded in the early afternoon at the Plains Midstream site at 1182 Plank Rd. Sarnia police and fire responded and traffic control was set up as a precaution in the area of Plank Rd. between Indian Rd. and Modeland Rd.

He says the fire department and a third party air monitoring company did not detect any further elevated gas readings and the all-clear was issued at 2:45pm. Wheeler says their investigation confirmed that no source for the elevated reading was identified and that ministry review of the Scott Rd. monitoring station did not show any elevated readings.

Enbridge shut down a tank during the incident but later confirmed that there had been no release originating from any of its pipelines, facilities and equipment.
