Busiest Weekend Of The Year On The Point Edward Waterfront

The Optimist Club's Bridge Bash gets underway Friday evening with three bands performing beginning at 8pm. Another three bands perform Saturday night. Admission is $5 with proceeds helping to build a new waterfront splash pad. On Saturday morning, you can munch on a pancake breakfast while watching all the boats sail past for the annual Mackinac yacht race. Rotary Club of Sarnia spokesman Mike Elliott says there's an option if you want to get ahead of the crowd or you are unable to stand for long periods of time. "You can buy advance tickets at Pathways Health Centre for Children, Manley's in Point Edward or Haines Printing," he says. "When you show up on Saturday morning there's generally a big line-up for people who are just walking up. We have a second line that is much, much shorter where we'll take people's tickets who already have one." The breakfast runs from 7-11am with proceeds going to local initiatives including a $1-million pledge to Bluewater Health and $600,000 to Pathways Children's Centre.
