Canada Day Celebrations In Sarnia-Lambton Friday

Sarnia's annual Canada Day festivities run from 11am to 4pm Friday at Canatara Park.

There will be lots of activities including ethnic food booths, inflatables, face painting, arts and crafts and more.

The parade kicks off at 11:30am from the intersection of Lakeshore Rd. and Colborne Rd. and ends in Canatara.

Opening ceremonies are scheduled for 1:30pm at the bandshell with the singing of the national anthem, birthday cake and announcing of parade winners.

Multicultural entertainment runs until 4pm at the bandshell before the party moves to the downtown waterfront with concerts running until 10:30pm.

Fireworks will be set off from the Point Lands at 10pm.

Sarnia Transit is offering special service running between downtown and Canatara Park throughout the day. There are also busses running from Northgate to Canatara. Cost is only $1 per person and tickets and passes are being accepted.

The town of Petrolia is hosting its annual Canada Day celebrations Friday.

A breakfast at the legion gets the day started from 8am-10pm, with a flag raising ceremony set for 11am.

A free swim will be offered at The Centre on Tank St from 10am until 12:30pm. Free entertainment for the kids, including a bouncy castle, will be set up from 3pm until 8pm.

Live music will be featured from 2pm until 10pm with local bands Borderline, Tail Draggers, Brooklyn Reobuck and Snake Bite.

The free fireworks show will get underway at dusk at Greenwood Park. Hull Bus lines is also offering free shuttles to the fireworks.

Fireworks are also planned in Lambton Shores at the Esli Dodge Conservation Area and at Grand Bend Beach.
