The 56 permits issued last month included one for $4.2-million for a new Union Gas Operations Centre in the Sarnia 402 Business Park. It pushed the April building permit total to $9.4-million, $4-million higher than the same month last year.
Another permit was issued for $449,000 for demolition of the former St. Patrick's High School on East St.
The year-to-date total is now at $24-million, $10-million more than the first four months of 2015.
Building permits were also issued for 12 new single family homes pushing the year-to-date total to 48, 19 more than at this time last year.
