Waterworks Rd. Trending On CAA Worst Roads List

There is still time to vote for the CAA Worst Roads campaign.

Waterworks Rd., Plank Rd. and St. Clair Parkway are the top Sarnia roads trending so far this year.

Government Relations with CAA South Central Ontario Caroline Grech says they want to hear from drivers, cyclists, pedestrians and transit riders using the roads.

"They drive the roads, they walk the roads, they know what roads need fixing and what are some of the problems."

Residents can nominate as many streets as they would like until Friday.

Reasons can include crumbling pavement, poor stop light timing, a need for improved cyclist or pedestrian safety, etc.

A compiled list of results will be presented to local and provincial officials in an effort to have roads fixed in the future.

"We're not trying to shame the municipality," she says.

"One of the big reasons we do this campaign is because we want the province and the federal government to give municipalities dedicated permanent funding so that they can help fix these roads."

Sarnia has made the Top 10 Worst Roads in Ontario list in the past, including Christina St. and Tashmoo Ave. in 2003 and Blackwell Rd. in 2005.
