London Bridge Child Care Services has purchased the former Coronation Park Day Nursery from the County of Lambton in a $1-million deal.
President Mike Harkins says they plan on moving Sarnia's existing ABC Early Childhood Learning Centre to the Oak Ave. location in June.
"We're going to rename it to Oak Ave. Early Childhood Learning Centre," says Harkins.
"It's about the same size as ABC, all of the staff and equipment and everything will be moving from London Rd. to Oak Ave. and we'll just carry on as normal serving the same families with the same employees."
Harkins says an estimated $100,000 worth of renovations will take place, including enhancing classrooms at the site, before the existing 20 staff members and 80 children move in June.
Sarnia's Best Start Child & Family Centre will continue to operate out of the facility as well.
A staff report on the closed deal comes to a county committee meeting for their information Wednesday. It says proceeds from the transaction will be placed into a reserve for the benefit of future social services related needs and opportunities.
