'Go Green' Awards

The City of Sarnia is recognizing businesses, individuals, and youth who make positive contributions to the local environment.

The 'Go Green' Environmental Awards promote and celebrate environmental stewardship in the city.

"It's, in essence, a challenge for people to one-up each other and to learn from each other about the things that they do to take care of the world around us," says Councillor Brian White who helped established the awards this year.

There are six award categories including small and medium businesses, eco-warrior, community stewardship, greenest classroom and youth or youth group.

"We're promoting a city that is contributing to the ecology of the entire country, and hopefully by virtue of that, becomes a great place for businesses to invest and for residents to want to come and move to," he says.

Nominations are now being accepted online or at city hall until April 15th.

Winners will be announced on Earth Day, April 22nd.
