Apartment Fire Displaces Five Families (Gallery)

The Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in to try to determine the cause of an apartment building fire in Forest Monday afternoon that has displaced a number of tenants.

The blaze at a two storey, six-unit brick building on James St. N. broke out around 1:15pm.

Forest firefighters called in the Arkona and Thedford departments for backup, and Point Edward responded with its telesquirt truck.

At the height of the blaze a total of 40 firefighters were on scene.

Forest Fire Chief Dave McLean says the building sustained heavy damage although no damage estimate is available yet.
