Rotary Roses Supports Local Projects

The 11th annual Rotary Roses fundraiser hopes to raise $4,000 this year for local and international projects.

Committee Chair Johnna Johansen says projects include student programs, the YMCA celebration of youth, and Lambton County's upcoming science fair and music festival.

She says Rotary has also purchased 75 dozen roses to hand out to seniors at seven area nursing homes.

"We thought that in the middle of winter, they need something to brighten their days," says Johansen. "In some nursing homes, they put the roses on the dining room table, and then everyone can take a rose with them when they go back to their rooms."

A dozen red or coloured roses can be ordered for $30 through Rotary Club members before March 16.
