New Chamber President On The Job

The new President and CEO of the Sarnia-Lambton Chamber of Commerce has been on the job a couple of weeks now.

De Silva comes to Sarnia from Sudbury where she worked as Director of Business Development at the airport.

She has taken over for Rory Ring who is now the chamber president in Sault Ste. Marie.

She holds an undergraduate degree in communications from the University of Windsor, a graduate diploma in Institutional Administration from Concordia University and a master certificate in Municipal Leadership from York University's Schulich School of Business.

De Silva says she's happy to be in Sarnia.

"I've been looking forward to my stay in Sarnia," says De Silva. "I've moved with my husband and children and we have a really good impression so far."

De Silva says she'll be working with chamber members in the coming weeks to set goals and objectives for the coming year.

She sees the low Canadian dollar as an opportunity to attract shoppers from the USA.
