Sarnia Teen Charged In Barrie Bank Robberies

A 16-year-old from Sarnia and a 24-year-old Alberta man have been charged in a pair of bank robberies in Barrie.

Barrie police say the two face charges in connection with robberies January 6 and January 11.

Arrests were made Tuesday night with the help of the Barrie K9 unit when two men, who were in a stolen vehicle, tried to flee on foot, police allege.

Police say the men have also been linked to four armed robberies in the Greater Toronto Area, two in York region and one each in Toronto and Peel region.

Charges are pending in relation to those crimes.

Police say the Alberta male is also wanted on outstanding criminal warrants from Calgary Police Service, and will be returned to that province once the latest charges have been dealt with in court.

The Sarnia teen can't be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
