Hodgson, Mistele Lead Sting Past Windsor

Hayden Hodgson scored twice, and Matt Mistele added a goal and two assists as the visiting Sarnia Sting beat the Windsor Spitfires 6-3 in the first game back from the OHL break Monday night.

Sting rookie goalie Kaden Fulcher made 33 saves on 36 shots against for his second career OHL victory.

Nikita Korostelev opened the scoring with his 11th goal of the season 5:38 into the opening frame. Cole Carter tied the game at 1-1 with a powerplay goal three minutes later. Jordan Kyrou potted his 7th of the year just 38 seconds later to put Sarnia ahead 2-1 after one. Troy Lajeunesse assisted on both of the Sting's first period goals.

Both teams traded goals in the second period, before Windsor's Logan Stanley made it a 3-3 game early in the third. Hayden Hodgson netted a powerplay marker two minutes later to put the Sting up 4-3. Sasha Chmelevski scored an unassisted insurance goal, and Matt Mistele capped the win with an empty netter.

The Sting beat Spitfires goalie Garret Hughson five times on 20 shots against.

With the win, the Sting improves to 19-11-2-1 on the season, just four points back of the West Division leading Spitfires.

The Sting returns to action on December 31 in London in the first game of the annual New Years home and home. Puck drop is 4pm on 103.9FM-1070AM CHOK.
