Sting Lose In Peterborough

The Sarnia Sting began their weekend on a losing note, falling to Peterborough 3-1 Thursday night.

The Sting outshot the Petes 42-31 but strong play in net from Matthew Mancina kept Sarnia's offence in check.

Sarnia opened the scoring early in the second frame as Anthony Salinitri slid the loose puck past Mancina after a shot from Josh Jacobs hit the goal post just seconds before.

Former Sting Daniel Nikandrov helped his new team pull even as he picked up an assist on Peterborough's opening tally. Later in the frame, the Petes took the lead on the powerplay with Pavel Zacha serving one of his three second period penalties.

Steven Lorentz scored the third period's only goal as Peterbrough held on for the 3-1 win.

Sarnia's road trip continues Friday night in Ottawa, they'll round out the weekend Sunday afternoon in Kingston.
