In what Sarnia police call an extremely rare occurrence, officers had to kill two deer in separate incidents in the city Friday.
Just before 10am, police were called to the 1600-block of Trinity Cres. for a report of a deer inside a home. The deer had crashed through the front window. No one was home at the time and the incident was reported by a passerby.
Police received a second call of a deer in distress around the noon hour. This deer had become wedged between a house and fence in the 100-block of Vidal St. S.
Animal control and Sarnia police deemed it necessary to kill the deer in each case because they had severe injuries.
