Highlighting Water Safety At Canatara

Lambton Public Health is reminding residents to keep safety in mind around all bodies of water.

According the Lifesaving Society's 2015 Ontario Drowning Report, drowning rates increased by eight per cent from 2008 to 2012.

In 2012, there were 178 water-related fatalities, the most since 2006. Health Promoter Lisa Clark says it's National Drowning Prevention Week.

She says drowning can occur in as little as an inch of water, however, the majority of drownings happen in lakes and rivers.
